Get the app

For test crews. Install it before race day, then open it once, sign in and let it set the phone up — it has to keep recording with the screen off for the whole race.

iPhone and Apple Watch

Through Apple's TestFlight. The Apple Watch app comes with the iPhone app.

Not quite yet — the iPhone test build is not out. This page will show the TestFlight link as soon as it is.

  1. Open the downloaded file. If Android asks, allow installs from this browser, then tap Install.
  2. Open Track That Race, sign in, and allow Location All the time with precise location on.
  3. Set Battery to Unrestricted and switch off “Pause app activity if unused” — the app walks you through both.
  4. To update, install the new file over the top. Never uninstall first: that wipes the permissions and the battery setting.

A watch app cannot be installed from the phone's download, so it goes on from a computer with Android's adb tool — or ask the organisers to do it for you at the venue.

  1. On the watch, turn on Developer options (tap the build number several times in the watch's About settings; the exact place differs by brand), then turn on Wireless debugging.
  2. On a computer on the same Wi-Fi, pair and connect with the address and code the watch shows, then install:
adb pair WATCH-IP:PAIRING-PORT
adb connect WATCH-IP:PORT
adb install -r ttr-wear-1.2.apk
